well I installed the gipro today ( not bad to do, followed enclosed instructions and the tutorial from this web site) but I odn't see any great difference, I set it on 3 according to the instructions,, at least I thinkI did just sayin;

yeah, im not sure if mine is set right. it lights up "5" when i start it, then indicates the proper gear, so i think its correct.
 
I'm sorry you guys aren't having good luck with them, but if you don't notice a drastic change in the first three gears after installing one then there is something wrong.
 
i know mine works because of the grin factor , but if you turn it off and try it then turn it on and try it you will know if its working right , its not a little better its lots better you will be able to tell .
 
That's a good idea, turn it off and crank the throttle from a rolling start. Then set it back to 3 and try it again. I know when I tried that it stood straight up and startled me.

However, like Ugarte said ... if you still have the secondaries in place and the tune in the bike doesn't allow them to open instantly or all the way ... it will still be sluggish. The GiPro eliminates the 1st-3rd timing retard but it's the tune and secondaries that allow for full and instant throttle response. My secondaries never opened all the way and lagged behind my throttle inputs. I watched them while riding with the intake plenum removed. When I saw how goofy the whole operation was I removed them as suggested in other threads. With them gone the throttle response is instant and was a little scary at first ... but I got used to all the extra power quickly and won't go back to the way it was.
 
There are those who notice a diffeence, and there are those who do not. I have a 2009 R3T, and as I have mentioned in other posts, the GiPro did nothing for me. It is handy to have a gear indicator, though. I just think it's a bit over-priced if that's all it does.

Just for full disclosure, my R3T is totally stock-factory tune and all. I have not noticed that it says anywhere that in order for the GiPro to be effective, you should have, or are required to have, other after-market mods as well. It was my impression that the main marketing claim for the GiPro was that it alone produced pronounced performance gains in the first 3 gears. That is definitely not the case with my R3T.

YMMV; you pays your money, and you takes your chances...

As mentioned earlier, there are many different stock tunes loaded into the bikes ... especially the Touring. If your upper gears have restrictions built into the program then you will have those with the GiPro installed as well. Most likely it's the secondaries remaining partially closed in those gears as well that is causing the problem. If you don't want to get into the ECU and open them, just take them out. Easy-Peasy.

The Gi-Pro made a significant difference in performance on my'07 standard.
Not my imagination as it would run alright before,
but after,,,,no comparison
Totally different and instant response to command..
wanna wheelie? roll on it at about 25-30 and up she'll pop.
Wanna just do a burn out?
roll on it from a dead stop.
These are MY results, yours may vary..
But if you see NO difference in performance,
something ain't right.
 
Me too exactly.
It's so hard to imagine that everyone doesn't benefit this way from it, but I have to believe there is the occasional person that is right about no change. I mean it was such an exciting and drastic change for mine that anyone installing one that doesn't go "WOW" has to have a problem somewhere.
I've been thinking about this for some time and the only explanations I can come up with are the obvious ... either it wasn't installed right, the tune in the bike is causing the problem with 4th and 5th gear same as the lower three, or it's defective. Problem is that I can't come up with an easy way to help them diagnose which one it is over the internet.
Probably the first step is to contact the maker and ask them for help, that would eliminate installation problems and defective units.
