.

Is this just a gear indicator? Is there any other advantage to having it?

Hey, Elvis! Howya' doin'?

The GI pro with ATRE (advanced timing retardation elimination) tricks the ECU into thinking that the bike is in 4th gear (where there is no timing retardation) all the time except when in neutral. The result is that it does away with the retarded timing in gears 1-3 (there is none in 5th gear), having the same effect as if you removed the secondaries. It also does away with the speed limiter in fifth, I believe raising top end on a stock non-Tourer from about 135 mph to about 150 mph.:D

Peace... out.

What he said! :D

Just a heads-up. I installed a GiPro when I had stock pipes and stock tune and the difference was incredible. Freaky how much more powerful the bike was in 1-3rd. I just couldn't stand the sound of the bike anymore so I just changed out to TORs and cat bypass with the Triumph factory tune for this setup. The GiPro does absolutely nothing for the power now (from a feel standpoint at least). Now it's just a gear indicator and possibly eliminates the speed limiter (I haven't tried going over 130 yet). Just keep this in mind if you have the TORs with the Triumph factory tune and no Tuneboy as now the secondaries are closed at the same levels in all gears so fooling the bike into thinking it's in 4th doesn't achieve much if anything at all.

Mok, if you did not add a PC III or TB with your cat delete and TORS install, you should definitely still have a very noticeable performance effect from the ATRE feature. If you do have a computer, it will override the ATRE function. Did you try resetting the unit from scratch?

pwrjunkie, there were a bunch of good posts made here re: installation. Use the search function and you should find them along with some decent pics which should be helpful. Personally, I punked out and had my dealer do the install as I am a real sissy when it comes to dealing with matters electrical!:D You do have to be very careful and eagle-eyed while removing and replacing the pins and some guys had a bit of a time locating the correct wires to splice in to, however those issues are all well covered in the older posts to which I refer!:)
