Hmm, my 240 started no problem down to 20 F, but I upgraded to 1.4 kw starter and double ground cable long ago, don't remember before that. Kept in unheated barn and rode all winter in Buffalo NY for years.
Mine cost me a bit over 10K...that included undercutting the transmission, Carpenter's custom studs and Robinson's billet 4th gear. I ordered the Sidewinder
exhaust, never got it. Instead it came back with the Brute pipe, which looks and sounds amazing. They only difference really is having to move the rear brake reservoir out away
from the motor so the heat from the pipe doesn't contact the reservoir. Carpenter moved mine and wrapped the plastic reservoir with heat resistant wrap. No issues. Yes, it is a hoot to ride.
I tried 3 different new batteries last winter, non of them would start the bike, i took my old battery to check and it was fine. even bought the famous toyota starter but never installed it. Once it got above 60, no issues at all, go figure

Well jeez, just spoke to Carpenter about a 240 kit, and they say that the newer rockets aren't able to get the performance out of them that they could get from the first gen. They have something for a few more HP, but its $10k because of the labor to R&R the engine. Just waiting for them to send some info on headers they have for them though.... Disappointed.....I guess its an exhaust, DNA, and the BT moto tune for me then.

Bummer...how about plan b, find a reasonably priced Roadster/classic in good condition and bring it to Carpenter. Heck, you even live close to their business. I had to ship mine which added more $$. Then you'll have two killer Rockets.
