Filter power gains?

I'm currently looking at K&N filters and have read about various options on this site. I've just replaced underseat with a new stock one but how much extra power do you really get with K&N?

I like the idea of the 3 filters but think that one RU-5111 might be easier. Would fitting one under tank give noticable power gains over the stock under seat or is it all just placebo effect.

Would like to hear tried and tested opinions about this, thanks.

I described the difference with triples as being similar to the effect of the cool night air you get at the start of autumn when the bike seems to run sweetest - except you get it all the time.

Without major mods, replacing the stock filter with a K&N under seat won't make much if any difference other than reduce ongoing maintenance costs. Installing the under tank K&N might give you a small gain be removing some of the hamster run plumbing but it would seem to me that it would be sucking in mostly warm air. In other words, probably nothing more than a placebo effect, plus of course reduced ongoing maintenance costs

I'd save your money and go for triples when you can, especially if you're also going to do exhaust and/or tuning mods as well.

Thanks guys, I think I'm sold on the under claw set up now, seems to be the way forward. When I can, I'll do that.

I installed under the seat one

I installed the under the seat one and really has a difference in air flow and performance....I did it that because was the easiest way to try without going to a dynotune that is not available down hear , since then one noticeable thing is that my ass is being burn as consequence of the air inflow of the new filter.....with the old one didn't t notice this, and really I wrote on another post I go the feeling that vibrations are lowered ...that s my experience.

Tek if you can not get her dynoed then go tune boy or tune ecu and PCV and autotune with the filters you will see a improvement.
