Engine cuts out if I move the handlebars

Thanks Guys for the info, if its that much of a problem why did triumph not do a recall or issue a fix at their expense.

Hello Scottisharab and welcome from Virginia. Triumph did change the ignition a few years later, but business being what it is, a recall was not in their plan for this item.

The problem could just be in the connector block below the ignition switch (under front of tank). It sounds like that's most likely your immediate issue.

Pull it apart, look for any blackened wires and bridge them with a short piece of electrical wire. Better still, bridge the whole lot. If you put individual connectors in there you can still pull it apart if needed.

Of course it's a sign that the switch itself is toast or about to be, so the above could just be a temporary fix. Definitely fit a headlight relay regardless.

Repair the ignition switch and either fit an Eastern Beaver kit or replace the headlights with some LED lights.
Or, fit a keyless ignition system from @DEcosse .
Or, fit a el cheapo redneck keyless ignition as shown below.

Whichever you do, the LED headlights will give you a lot more light and take the strain off the ignition switch.

I have done all you have said except the red neck keyless ign - works perfect

Many moons ago when my 2005 rocket(bought new) was six years old my switch started to act up my local dealership contacted Triumph and they sent me free of charge a new ignition switch, gas and seat set up free of charge.
Now me being Scottish helped in getting the parts for free as the English really love the Scots, now you go by scottisharab never heard anyone from Scotland associating themselves with two nationality's I thought that was only an American thing:eek: but if you are half Scottish they might give you the switch without the other parts.
