That's going to do your head in Richard .. might as well just bite the bullet and have the headers re-sprayed. Finish coats the cheap part of ceramic coating from my understanding. Good time while you're freezing your ass off , don't you think ? It would do my head in .. that's all I know.
 

Just a little bit drongo mate but happy to clarify. The heat from the headers is fine. Maybe a tiny bit warmer than the stock header but not really noticeable. They are hot to touch though and therefore will melt anything synthetic that happens to touch them. When I put my right foot down, if I'm not thinking about it my leg can brush against the header in, well, exactly where I sprayed the oven cleaner. The heat shield is to stop and more damage to my rain gear and any more melted plastic getting on the pipes. You may not need one.
 
Crying shame mate, but I'm glad you got it sorted. Oven cleaner is clearly nasty stuff. Don't think I've ever cleaned an oven before
 
Thanks for the info Richard, I wouldn't know anything about oven cleaners but crikey it messed things up a bit. Glad it came off though. As I said to you before, its a smart looking machine with the headers on it and they suit it. Cans look good levelled up a bit too.

Bull, I fitted the same headers to my Roadster without any hassle or fiddling around, straight on as if they were made for it. You might not need to make a shield as the foot pegs are located slightly different and I have plenty of leg room / clearance, but you may be taller than me.

Yeah yeah.
I was thinking I'd like to remove something unsightly from the bike - which is way better than adding something unsightly to it.
Which reminds me. How is that screen coming along???
