I followed the link on the Tune Ecu How To thread and ordered this cable...

Link Removed

It learned that (after ordering it and trying it) it does not have an FTDI chipset and does not connect to the program/bike. I thought I'd post this as a new thread so others see it and do a little more research before ordering a cable.

If anyone on the Calgary area has a working cable they can part with for an afternoon, I would be so grateful! My bike has not been the same since Blackfoot serviced it and I was hoping to adjust my tps before a road trip in a couple of weeks.

I would like to reorder from lonelec but Paypal is not an option right now due to a previous billing dispute I am trying to resolve - (over a $3.00 fraud attempt on my visa... rediculous) - and Amazon will not ship this item to me in Canada. What gives? I'm trying to find someone in Canada who stocks a working cable but no luck there.

Amazon shipped mine to Ottawa, did you download the software through the internet to activate the cord to work with your computer? It took me a few tries before I realized I didn't do that, then it started working like it should. If you cant find one, I'll mail mine to you, you can send it back when you're done.

That is a mighty kind offer Sensfan! I've tried ordering a couple times on Amazon and they say they won't ship to my address. Hmmm. I'm going to call a shop here, and see if they can get me in before my trip. I'm 90% certain the voltages just need to be tweaked but I'll send you a message if I want to take you up on your offer. I have a purolator account and can cover all the shipping if need be. I really want to own this cable though so I'll do some hunting first. Very kind offer though!

I should mention that I've confirmed that this cable I bought has the wrong chipset. It has the CH341 chipset which won't talk to the ecu.

this specifically references TuneECU. I dunno why they wouldn't ship to Canada when they'll even ship to Finland.

That said, I'm sure the Lonelec guys will do a straight credit card sale without Paypal. I got my cable there, build quality appears stellar and it worked right away. Might cost a few bucks more to Canada from the UK than the Amazon option.

If you have no luck, send one to my address and we'll ship it out to you, or, like I said, if you need a loaner to tweak before your trip we'll arrange it, good luck.

Ah ha! I just tried a different link on Amazon and it worked! This is what I ordered.

It's funny, when I searched Amazon.ca and tried buying one, it was clear that the item was shipping from China (30 day shipping time) or they would simply not ship to my address. This one worked so hopefully it'll get here quickly. Thanks again for the offer to loan me yours.

Update time!

So I posted a request on our local Calgary Triumph Rider's Group page on Facebook to see if someone could loan me a proper cable for a few hours and this morning a fellow member of the group replied. So we hooked up over private message and I tell him "I'm in Airdrie but I can come to where you're at..." he tells me, "so am I". As it turns out, he is literally 3 blocks from me. Small world. I walked to his house and made a new friend.

So I grabbed the cable, ran home, and read the settings for the TPS. The voltages were only off by a small amount. (.6 to .71) I adjusted it to .72, reset adaptations and the bike starts and runs perfectly now. No more stalling, and so far, no more sticky throttle/high idle. I wonder if my mileage will improve slightly too.

I was pleasantly surprised to see how easily Tuneecu runs on a Mac using Parallels. It was flawless and straight forward. It helps to have the right cable! Maybe when I get mine, I'll experiment with a new map. I didn't mess with anything today but I did download my map and saved it. I'll need to get a map for D&D slipons which I'm sure will be easy enough to find. I imagine it will be better than the Triumph map for aftermarket pipes.
