How highbrow. But that's the way my gauges happen to be, as I just found out upon cleaning the bike after the French outing. However, much to my surprise, the "weird angle" in question is NOT the exactly the same on the --metric-- speedo and --universal-- revmeter. In other words, there's little symmetry between the two.
The plot thickens Jamie
(My green --formerly red-- machine was built in the Summer of '04, BTW)
I thought it to be an oddity, sort of. My '06 Classic has all black faces and red pointers and the pointers aren't straight, that is, the taper to the end isn't consistent all the way to the tip. They actually droop a little on the ends like a limp spaghetti noodle. My BIL's bike whic is an '06 Red and not a Classic has the silver bottoms at least the picture I saw of it indicated that. I've never seen the bike in person, just a picture but I know he has one. He's lusted for one too long. Besides Bart always claims he has no money but has plenty of Mason Jars buried around his property.
I don't understand what the point of the silver bottom is and I'm glad I don't have it....looks a little tacky or should I say wacky. My pointers on the other hand could stand to be more ridgid.
One thing I have to say is a plus and that is the light for the turn signal in the instrument face. It's plenty bright whereas the T100 can't be seen in the daylight so I installed an electronic canceller because I always forget to push the button.
I have seen both styles, silver and black and all black, on the standard, classic, and SE at my dealership. I think it has to do with what Triumph has in the parts bend that day.
I'm beginning to wonder if the silver bottomed gages are made for Triumph by an obscure manufacturer in Roswell, New Mexico or at an undisclosed site near Los Alamos?? or if in actuality, there is an opened bottle of JD on the shelf in your respective garages??
Of course my pointers are limp or at least they appear limp and I'm familiar with limp......just ask Amy.
