When I bought my '05, it had Triumph bags, sissy bar and rack installed. I'm finally getting around to removing the extraneous stuff, and am trying to figure the original configuration. Naturally, the previous owner had his dealer do the installs, so I'm without the bolts that came with the bike, and am wondering just what, if anything, covers the upper portion of the rear chrome rails where the sissy bar/rack mount fit down in and bolt to the frame. The chrome side rails have a nice cutout for the other hardware. Is is supposed to be empty, ie you see the black frame member down along the fender?

I absolutely love the way it looks w/o bags, sissy bar and rack!

Thanks!

yes there are chrome covers that either go with sissy bar or without. they don't interchange. The stock covers should be a dime a dozen since R3's don't come with sissy bars factory. I'll bet if you ask, someone will sell you a set cheap.
I'm saving mine, sorry.

Thanks, Hellfire. I thought that might be the case. Grrrr.

Wanting to buy: one stock set of chrome rear side rail covers for my 2005 Rocket.

...but they aren't going for a dime a dozen for some reason. I've seen these routinely sell near and over $100/set for the stock chrome covers. If you look on the oem parts fiche on bikebandit.com you'll be shocked at what they are asking for replacements ($400 for the set).

So the dealership sold the previous owner a sissy bar/ rack kit for 400 bucks, installed it, and kept the 400 dollars worth of hardware that they took off the bike. Wonderful.

That is just not right. There must be tons of those things taking up good shelf space, I'll bet if you wait a while ... someone will realize they have a set taking up space. There has to be a pair for every sissy bar sold.

Possible I may have what you need

'May be able to work out something - maybe trade for your cutout version straight up? You pay for what you ship and I'll pay for what I ship?

When I got my bike - I did as your Rocket's new owner did and had the Sissy (really? - anybody know the etymology of THAT word) Bars put on (plus other bits of Triumph baubles). The cut-outs were ordered from merry old England. When "they" showed up about a month later - I ended up with the same covers (non-cutout version) that came with the bike. Dealer being 70 miles away I never squared up. 'Will look close to make sure you get the pair that was not put on the bike (I think). There are some black edge trim - at first look I saw one of them - 'think the other lurking deeper in the box.

Trade? If so - let me know - we can work out the logistics via email. Send me yours via the forum email facility - I'll do the same.

Picture I just took.
