former airline pilot without the big bucks
I was wondering a bit last year near the end of season why my R3 seemed to burn more oil than before . I topped it up in the garage this fall for storage .I turned it in this spring for valve clearance check and plugs replacement today the dealer informed me that the check valve that keep the oil in the tank has failed and they found twice the amount of oil in the bottom case causing the oil to flush out of the crankcase breather when they warmed up the bike
the lesson ............... if you think you burn too much oil maybe it leaks from the check valve and seats in the bottom of your engine that valve is a $35 item to replace cheaper than a gallon of oil!! be aware.
