Calling all Aussies - Rockets Downunder???

With all the hype and excitement about Rockets Across America and the growing number of us from Downunder, I wanted to start a thread to test the water for a similar event here. I know there is interest but can we make it happen??

I've been making some preliminary enquiries but before getting too involved I want to see what Aussies (and Kiwis??) think. How many interested? Any thoughts on where? When? What would you want to do and get out of it? What do we call it (RAA could be a problem)? Who do we talk too - eg RAT, dealers, .com????

Possible timing: Would depend on location but anywhere from Sept - Nov or March - April would be best.

Possible venue: Tamworth?? Relatively central for the eastern states, is set up for gatherings such as this, is used to visitors, has lots of accommodation. And yes, it's home of THE country music festival but also has a pretty interesting motorbike museum. Other suggestions?

What to do?: Organised rides/activities or just a gathering?

Who wants to be involved?: Offers of assistance, sponsorship, publicity? Road Rider Cruiser mag has already said they'd get behind it (but not $). Other ideas?

So, all you lurkers as well as regulars, post your thoughts here or send me an e-mail (PMs will fill my In box too fast).

Also, I'd welcome any asssistance/suggestions/pitfalls from any of you guys involved in RAA; your experience and knowledge would be invaluable.

Yeah, Tamworth is good, wouldn't go to the museum again, you know, been there done that!

OK if you like museums have a look around Nabiac, don't have to stay in town.

Coffs Harbour? Port McQuarie? Anywhere up the coast road..

All good, I will go to anywhere as long as I can get time off!

PS .... Can't go around October 'cos I plan to ride from Brissy all the way down the coast to the Great Ocean Road then ride back inland... taking three weeks off to do it

Tamworth would be about 1700 kms one way for me so I'd need a bit of time off work.
Definitely interested but would need to plan for a date depending on work commitments.

p.s. ROOZ sounds pretty cool. Good idea Tom

Been 1,270 posts for the RAA Maggie Valley get-together. Seems like forever that they have been planning and whatever for..... 30 bikes to go away for a few days ..... Early days for us , give it a chance for the word to get around mate.

Hey Canberra what Tomcat is saying is very true for starters you need to plan it 12 months in advance so people can organise leave, there will be those that say yes now and then last minute change thier mind and there will be those that decide to go last minute.
First you need to set a date then poll to find a location or state it to be held but most importantly remember you don't have to do it by your self if nessary put forward the idea of someone suggesting thier local location then have a few help that person organise the details
