Bridgestone Exedra Max Awesome

240/50r16 vs 255/50r16

I see in the threads you run the bridgestone, only size I can find online is the 255. My Rocket has a 240 on it. What difference will that make??
Need rear Tire BADDDDDDDDDDD I have to make a desicion tonight and order a new one.
What cha think.
 
Pretty sure that size (255/50r16) is a car tyre only. I won't be recommending any car tyre for a Rocket. I'll leave that to others. Looks like it would be a tad too fat for the rim though. I've seen a 245 car tyre on a Rocket rim and it seems to fit fine and looks huge.

The bike tyre I run is a 240/55r16 Bridgestone Exedra Max radial. The standard Metz (and Avon Cobra) are 240/50r16. The Bridgestone therefore has a higher profile i.e. the sidewall is slightly taller giving it a bigger rolling circumference. I think this improves ride and the tyre has terrific handling. They also look bigger all round.

I love the Bridgestone - plenty written about it on here - am on my second and can't see I'd ever use either of the other 2 again.

Avon Cobra is also a good tyre. The only issue I had was that it tended to be a bit skittish in the wet. But it was fantastic in the dry. Looks good too.

Metz is OK but wears out fast and the handling seemed to go off quite quickly. While they're new, they're fine (but not terrific).
 
So what is wear out milage for EXEDRA MAX for touring at the end? (front 150/80–16 and rear 180/70–16 tyres)
 


R3 is right about the superiority of the Bridgestone Exedra Max. As far as the CT, IMHO a narrower rear tyre is better.
I am running 215 60 16. It rubs a little on one of the mud guard screws. Next time I'll try a 205 60. Narrower has less step-off from the side of the tread. If you are on uneven ground and have weak legs like I do, you might loose the bike to it's side. Also, when you lean the bike into the turn the bike has more "wants" to stand up. The drawback is that the 60 profile makes for a tall tyre and in some situations you are going to feel the lateral flex. All tyres flex in the lean any way.

It's about application and where you are ridding. The option of a quick tyre change helps.

 
just changed my rear Exedra max 240/55/16 after 15200kms...here in NZ due to our coarse seal, thats very good miles.

That's what I've heard about from some RIIIR and one RIIIT owners. I mean milage. But I don't remember the tyre models unfortunately. My best case was 29K km (18K miles) on my previous bike VT1300CT done with Shinko 777 but it's not an option for Rocket unfortunately.
 
I'm curious what/who the deleted member is all about, spammer?
