Breaking the clutch shaft

I have an 08 Rocket III Touring,

I checked the dealer's website and he just took in a 98 BMW on trade, its like the mc gods are telling me to go back to BMW.

I know a lot more about BMW's and their issues than I do Triumph. The bike they have has a lot of miles, but are known for high mileage reliability.

Right now all I can focus on is the negatives of owning this bike, (small oil leak, clutch, very small dealer network) I guess I need those of you here to tell me why I should keep it or the things you like about it, Im very disappointed right now.

I never have had a bike gone this long and I am now worried about taking this bike on the road for usual three to for bike trips I take every year.

Talk me down off of the ledge guys, Im ready to jump

Jump to what? A broken Paralever casting? Frame craking? EFI problems? Beemers have their problems as well.

It a machine made up of many sub assemblies and components and things break and will.

So long as the dealer is competent and the technician is trained properly, there should be no problems down the road.

Yelling at me will do no good, except to me you feel better. I am mechanically inept, I couldnt tell you how a clutch/transmission/or drivetrain worked if you had a gun to my head.

As I have been saying I realize BMW's are far from perfect, but there is a dealer close by which I know well and have done business with for many years. I NEVER waited this long for diagnostic and now Im told the parts wont be in until Tuesday 5/19. Of course if their "Rocket III specialist" isnt working then I guess Il hafta wait longer.

Yes all things mechanical will break, I get that, Im not too happy with waiting over 10 days.

BTW Triumph has denied the warranty claim because Im the 2nd owner, but the dealer is gonna try again. I hope so because it appears if I hafta pay parts and labor are gonna be the better half of $1000.

Im waiting and hoping for good news, in the meantime, Im not riding...

Im holdin out hope that everything will be OK. An aquaintence in the mc industry used to work at a now defunct Triumph dealer and assured me that Triumph usually does the right thing. He did say that it was standard to initially deny any claim they felt was out of the ordinary, but usually honored the warranty if the customer was insistent.

I hope everything works out, it is a great looking bike that I hope is reliable and just needs "dialing in"

I dont know what I will do if they want to charge me for the repairs, I wonder is there an appeal process w/ Triumph

Tom if he was in Illinois then it must have been Motoplex of Joliet. I had my bike worked on there before on waranty issue and everything worked out fine. If your clutch basket does not come in and ends up on back order let me know I have a extra clutch set up laying around I was going to send out to be beefed up till a billet one gets designed and made.

The bike's being serviced at MCC in Villa Park

My coworker reminded me of what he went through a few years ago w/ his goldwing. He's a very good rider and could do power wheelies, well one too many of those really screwed up the anti-dive sensors and his suspension was all messed up.

Honda had to send in engineers from Ohio to figure out the problem, needless to say he had no bike for about two months until it was finally repaired.

That was five years and 45000 miles ago and he still rides the **** out of it, so I should take a lesson from him and be patient

You should consider yourself lucky if you weren't mechanically inclined and kept riding it. Well it gets very pricey when the basket detonates and takes out the drive chain and oil pump shaft along with the water pump.
