I just had to get out and ride today on the Speed 4 even though it's 100 degrees right now. I picked up this neck wrap that you soak in water for 5 minutes and it stays wet for an hour or so and really helps keep your core temp. down. Check em out at
www.blubandoo.com. It last a lot longer if you have a windshield.

Yea, I had one I got from work that worked real good. I'm actually riding with a long sleeve shirt this summer and seems to help alot. Its a little hot at stops but keeps the sun from frying your forearms.

I have several of these bandannas and they work exceptionally, and I always wear at least long sleeves. I'd prefer leathers but in 96 degree heat today it would be totally wrong. Skin cancers should be a concern. If you're not wearing a sun block of 40+ you are asking for issues in the future. And a bite from unforeseen road rash is minimized with sleeves.

Haven't tried one of those neck things yet, but sounds like something I need to get.. :) I've owned a Joe Rocket mesh jacket for several years now. I used to only wear it to work, but now I wear it alot more often for the sun protection..

How do you like the mesh jacket? I have the joe rocket with vents in the arms, chest and back. I've wondered if the mesh just dries you out quicker as opposed to sweating a little and having the vents blow air over your sweat.

Our temps got to at least 106 today. Been running up to 108 or 109 I think. Didn't get to ride I was covering for one of the guys today so couldn't leave town. Made 7 1/2 hours OT thank you very much. But was going to take the bikes to Waco tomorrow to visit daughter. Really wanted to ride. But Bear just talked me out of it due to the heat. He has one of those vests that I think Gerbing makes. You soak it in a bag with a bottle of water then put it on and put a jacket over that. Works like and evaporator air conditioner. I was going to use the think around the neck. Bought a couple several years ago. I handle the heat pretty good. Always been a Summer Time Child. But he was sure worried about it for tomorrow, so gonna drive the Jeep I guess with its a/c. But he says a cool front is supposed to come in on Monday. It would figure, cause I have my regular every three week on-call schedule that starts Monday!

I have the mesh jacket too. Not Joe Rocket but a different brand. Seems like as long as you are rolling it is good. But you get stuck at red lights or stop and go traffic and it gets rather warm.

I fitted my bike with a Paul Stanley signature portable shower. I ride in a Paul Stanley signature full body swimsuit (sans the chest area) that came with the shower. The unit works terrific. Sure, it's an extra 3 gallons of water I'm hauling around, but it works good. I have to confess, however, I'll be glad when Paul authorizes a Paul Stanley signature wiper blade for helmet visors. ;)

Snuff,
I have a mesh jacket that I bought when I lived in S. FLA. It's a Joe Rocket and they're nice. They flow a lot of air when you're moving. I have one of the bandanas being bantered about as well. They work pretty well. I'd resoak them when I'd stop for gas.

Also, on really hot days, I'd soak my shirt in water and then put the mesh jacket on top. By the time you stopped again it'd be dry again, but it'd keep you pretty cool in the meantime.

I have done the soaking the shirt thing when I leave work on 90 plus days a lot. Works pretty good.
On gas stops, throw your helmet in the bagged ice dispenser for a few minutes. Feels good for a few miles.
