Bike... 2008 Rocket 3 standard.

So.... got my new exhaust installed... very sweet. Had a fellow captain help me out loading a tuneecu file (tune number 20050TOR_Dyno.hex ) runs much better than with the triumph tors tune. My problems.

tune info :
Triumph Rocket III All years Triumph off road pipes and Triumph cat box eliminator Dyno result was 157ftlb
and 145hp Full power in all gears, speedo corrected.

1) when i first fire it up in the morning it fire's then dies. Fires then dies. I have to use the throttle lock to keep it bumped up a tad so it won’t die)

2) When cruising 35 mph it hiccup’s and bucks forwards and backwards. Mostly 3rd gear and when slightly downhill.

3) There is an off idle dead spot that makes it very interesting coming out of corners. best way to describe it is similar to a two stroke power band.

4) idle is very eratic and loppy like it's cammed out. very low aswell.

hope this is descriptive enough

thanks,
Steve

Dunno how TuneECU works, but what's ya idle speed set at? Oughta be around 850......could do all of the above things......you say it's slow..???

well. The wrench at the shop offered to plug the bike in and check it out. idle is set at 750 but jumps around quite a lot

Mmmm. Can hardly be anything that you've done just replacing the exhaust. Almost gotta be to do with that tune.

Sorry, dunno.....

Had it into the shop saturday. was told that it was an adjustment issue. adjusted the tps, cleaned the crank angle sensor on the bottom, balanced the throttle bodies, reset the adaptives all of that was done. ran "ok" till the next day when it just started surging and wont stay running when it's cold.

sorry, should have mentioned that at the get go.

I have been through exact same scenario buy new tps if the one you have on is still good you will have a spare that you will need down the road
but at least you will have eliminated tps they dont fail completely but intermittently

New TPS is blue on the inside face - part number T1245113

Also after changing it you should do a ISCV reset. Rest Idle Stepper Control Voltage.
Not sure how it is done in Tune ECU but Tune Boy is a breeze.
IDK can tell you how to do it with tune ecu.
