Been away on tour, rocket wont start?? Any tips?

Did you double-check your fuses and wiring going into the ignition switch? Bang a bit on that starter motor in the rear, bottom left of engine. Brushes might be a bit stuck but a good battery should jump that sucker.

Oh and don't forget that if the bike is in gear and your kickstand is down, she won't start. Try getting into neutral or put the kickstand up before starting.

On my 07 UK model the clutch must be pulled in for the starter button to work (have been caught out once or twice!!), it will start with the sidestand down but will cut out on engaging first gear if still down............

check the clutch switch and side stand switch for functionality. also put the bike in 2nd or 3rd gear and rock it back and forth in gear to move the starter rotor away from the spot it was sitting at, could have gunked up in that area.

Get the bike back in neutral and try again.

Good Luck

If you have already cleaned the battery terminals and when you press the starter button you hear a click and your lights die or dim then you still have a corroded connection that is shorting out. If its not the battery end then its the starter connection to the battery. So clean the terminal at the starter and try again. The good news is if thats whats wrong then you can push start it! Second gear and a downhill start.
