I pulled back the sheets and cranked her over today. YAY!!!

It has been over two months since I last ran it, I'm sure she felt neglected. lol

The Odyssey and charger did the job and it started on the first try. I did the ignition switch on and off thing about four times to cycle the fuel pump and pushed the button .... it did crank for a long time before it started, about 5-6 seconds. But the starter never struggled, the battery kept it turning and it didn't slow down at all before it fired up.

I was very impressed, the stock battery never would have cranked that long, and last year without the Odyssey charger/maintainer even the PC625 wouldn't have done so well. That combination really does work awesome, that was one of the best mods I read here on the site. Kudos to whoever came up with that one .... I forgot who.

Hoping to get some miles in toward the end of the week, they say the temps are going to be close to 60 ... fingers crossed.

***looked back and found that it was Mitchcpc who posted all the great pictures on modifying the battery tray to hold the Odyssey PC625. Thanks to Mitch~:)

We do not have the cold cold temps down here but it does get below freezing at times and the good old wal-mart battery has never let me down, the stock one lasted three years and was still going strong when I replaced it.
I replace my bike battery every three years regardless as to how they are performing.
I should add that I ride my bike nearly every day so that does help temp does not matter we ride in any weather except snow which we do not have to worry about.

Oh yeah, a ride a day keeps the gremlins away ... that's exactly what these bikes like, to be ridden often.

good to hear. Is 60 about your limit for riding when it gets cold? Here in south east Washington its very deceptive. I am working inside all day and i can see bright sunshine with no clouds outside but i walk out and its 20* and i feel too cold to ride about 40* is my limit. I am planing on making my own heated gear (or buying some if i am unsuccessful) so i can ride year round :) do you have a link for the battery mod thing?

Gets down to the teens here, no problem just stick on a few more layers.
Cold does not bother me I was born and raised in Scotland not one of the hot spots of Europe, dress to ride for the weather:D
Easy to say when you're in Florida eh? lol The name alone keeps you warm when ya get a dip in temps. I get a warm orangie feeling just typing the word Florida :D.

Aww, I'll tool around home in the 40's, maybe even ride the 40 miles to work in the 50's ... but 60's and 70's are the most comfy for me on the Rocket. That big heater on the front starts getting sweaty above that. You should know about that Daryl, traffic in the 90's on an R3 can really suck ass.

I do get to spend next week in Plya Del Carmen Mexico, so with 80 degree temps on the beach my little toes won't be cold for a few days. Lookin forward to that.

How Cold?

Here in SW Iowa my rule is to quit riding when the frost "sticks" i.e. when the pavement is cold enough that it's not safe any more. That's usually about 26 degrees F, and thats about a mile ride to work. My R3T gets started at least once a month cuz it's in my attached garage. Marty;)
