Got gipro before i knew anything about tune ecu mate
and no i dont need it but im happy i have it .
Its not needed but it is nice to have that nice big bright display there i like it i also look at that when im putting her into nuetral rather than the dainty little green one on the gauges the gipro display kicks arse over that little thing.
And if you want to change the settings back for wet weather ect u can do it with the push of a button so yeah GIpro is a winner hands down and i think all that have purchased would agree
 
Nothing to add really; everyone's pretty much covered it. You can do quite a lot and get a lot more out of the bike without spending a lot of $. Or you can spend spend spend. The possibilities are endless!

I agree Mitch, you don't need a gear indicator but I just like it too. I pulled secondaries at the same time as putting in the GiPro so I don't know what made the biggest change but the most noticible thing was that it was much smoother and responsive on the throttle.

I think I will order a PCV after I ask them a bunch of questions about what it can and cannot do, why don't they list it for a year that has been reported as working, etc. After that, I'll definitely be hitting up hanso for that map!

Rationale?

Exhaust for this thing is pretty expensive and I think the best fix will be a turbo and I'm just going to save my pennies up for that and the PCV will take a boost reference signal and then I can have a peppier ride this summer/fall and not have thrown any money away as I get ready to add some boost.

So, I'll have to order some K&Ns, yank some secondaries, hook up a PCV, and put in a new map.

And yes, I do have the cable and codes for TuneBoy but hadn't done anything with it, so thanks for spelling that out. Interesting to have two options -- wonder if TuneBoy has a boost reference table? Hmm, maybe I need to talk to the Aussies before I order the PCV too.

Anyhow, I posted an intro, I plan to stick around here, thanks for making me feel welcomed and not stupid!
 
Don't mean to hijack the thread but I've been loathing over the rockets for sometime and have a question. Correct me if I'm wrong but I'm leaning towards the Tourers and I understand that from the factory they don't put out the power the standards due.My question is what kind of hp/tq gaines can be made on the tourer with simple tuning and intake/exhaust upgrades?

Excuse me; but, I be a bit confused about all this and wish to learn more before jumping into the mysterious ECU world.

I have read that many have removed secondaries. I have also read Tune ECU can keep them open 100%. Which is best? Both?

I'm surprised that nobody has mentioned the ultimate engine upgrade available to the general public for any model R3, Carpenter Racing's 210 or 240 kits and their Brute exhaust system which has proven to be the #1 power making exhaust available to date:

Their drag bike, which is essentially a stock Roadster with a few minor tweaks added to the 240 kit, recently ran a 9.03 quarter mile @ 157+ mph on 87 octane race gas, stock tire and no wheelie bar! Soon, it will blow right through the 9 second mark.

yes you can retune as some of the tourer owners have you can also go further as Triumhphill has advertise with the Carpenter kit but there are other cheaper options if you dont want open the wallet that far but remember you are dealing with a narrower rear tyre so how far you go may depend on how often you want the rear end loose, from memory one of the Moderators did quite good numbers with out spending a motza on his, I think it was GPMAZ drop him a PM I reckon he would be your best bet to get good performance with out going over board and Welcome to the forum by the way
 

Don't know the answer to that. It's been argued a fair bit and nothing conclusive. I pulled mine bacuse I didn't want to start playing with the ECU, but would be a fiddle to put them back in. I'd probably suggest leaving them in if you're messing with the ECU in other ways as it gives you more options. If not, pull 'em. Be aware that, depending on the tune you're running, removing or opening 100% of the time, could make you run lean.
