The engine speed is limited by the ECU...I don't know if it's a hard limit, or a soft one. One or the other affecting how it feels when you are reaching the cutoff. But it is adjustable with the same software that you do other adjustments with. Of course, if you adjust it to allow a higher limit without internal improvements, you could get valve float and and that is a limiter of it's own. Once they float and stay open, it's not going to speed up any more.
Completely stock 2015 Rocket X top end was at 120 mph. Now with Ramair, Viking three into one and Hanso tune top end is above 130 mph. How much more above i am not sure and will probably never find out.
The stock Roadster ECU is set to 194 KMH (120 MPH), with the max RPM set to 6300. Additionally, the max throttle you can get (at 5000 RPM) is 58% in fourth gear and 64% in fifth gear due to the secondary throttle plates. All of this can be eliminated with tune ECU and one of Hanso's tunes!
hmmm, not sure how this can be? because yesterday my stock 2017 roadster did 140 at 5000rpm going uphill, and she had more throttle twist still to go (maybe that wouldn't get me any more speed, idk) but since the speedo only goes to 140 i figured why try to go any faster than she can measure. maybe the governor is set to the tach at 6500, but not the speedo? idk, i do know what she did, 140 uphill at 5000
Rockets have notoriously optimistic speedos. My unrestricted 05' will go 135 flat out with the speedometer corrected. That is with the windshield and beetle bags on.
