A constructive word of advise

I would love to be there but can't. Since my company got bought by Agropur (Yoplait yogurt is one of their main products) which bills itself as a big "people company" our benefits have been cut drastically. One of the new ones is, instead of starting January 1st with your full number of vacation hours (in my case 160) we now start with zero. For each month we work, we accrue a certain number of hours. Because I have been off for 8 months fighting cancer, I have "zero" vacation time. This is time I earned last year ! In effect they stole an entire year's worth of earned vacation from us. Nice bunch eh ? Oh ya, they also hired someone for my automation job, so I've been bumped back to "*****mechanic", the job I started out in 18 years ago. They had an automation guy from one of their other plants in our plant who could have covered for me. I would love to tell them to jam it in their ass, but jobs around here are scarce. Especially if your 54 years old, and have a dubious medical history. I guess it "is what it is", thanks for allowing me to vent.

P.S. Please don't tell me I should feel fortunate to still have a job. I've heard a lot of that **** lately. Americans are so worried about losing their piece of **** jobs they are allowing companies to walk all over them. I've never been a fan of unions but now see why they were created in the first place. The pendulum has swung WAY the other way.

Rocket Scientist,
Now THAT SUX BIG RICHARD!!!
Real tough to digest the fact that when working for someone else, you are merely a commodity. I wonder how much money your former employer ripped off the sweat of their employees by $hit canning their earned benefits during the sale of the company?

It is indeed disappointing that it is always the extremes of an issue that are in play and nobody seems to give a $hit about the middle ground of what is fair.
Very Best Fortune to You,

If I have learned one thing with on line forms of communication is that sitting behind a keyboard allows people to take on a personality and traits that totally different from who they really are. We use automobiles the same way. How many of you have had someone cut you off, drive slow, and get in your way when you are in a hurry. And you proceeded to call them every name you could think of and flip them the bird knowing that you a safe to exercise that practice because the risk of confrontation is very low. If that same person would have cut in front of you in a line at the store you might have let it go because the risk of confrontation is much higher. Its my opinion that we use the keyboard, car, etc as a safety net to sample confrontation in a controlled environment with minimum risk.

What have seen is you cannot expect people to be the same in person as they are in this fantasy world we call the internet. That's why public face to face gathering always work when there is a common interest.

We all practice conflict avoidance its human nature. So I would invite everyone that wants to attend an RAA to do so because the people you see there are not the people that you see on the forum.
