Remember the manufacturers give distance values based upon ANY measurable light reading (.02 lux), which has NOTHING to do with your ability to discern and identify something as a hazard (3.2 lux/.3 ft candles)!
I VERY important difference in the safety aspects of headlights.
Seems also a sensible estimate of possible RAW lumens - The XML2 can be simply driven to above 1000lm/emitter. But really even 900lm is pushing it if you want ROBUST - the 3800 obviously is MAIN - Dip half that. Raw 1900 - but a lot will get lost. Still better than an H4 mind you.
I doubt it will stand up to correctly optically controlled LEDs but I'm prepared to be amazed. Would have preferred the see the XML2s mounted abreast and not in-line - but there's a heat-sink factor involved.
To me the only thing that matters is whether they work better; and they do. I don't care about nor take much notice of numbers, especially numbers I don't understand that are published by manufacturers. The globe costs well under $100 ……….. Try it.
I put LED bulbs in the fog lamps on R3T and they look great but its a different kind of light, more daylight bright than hallogen, but I cant get the picture to post.
Was 40km away from home doing the mowing and yard work for my Mum the other day. First highway night ride since installing Led bulbs. I was suprised that about 7 cars travelling the opposite direction flicked high beam at me apparently thinking I had left my high beam on. Anyone else notice similar things?
