R3
Hey all -
I bought my 2005 R3 in 2015 and it's my 3rd Triumph (the other 2 were 750 Bonnies) and the 8th bike I've owned in my 50 riding 'career'. I'm in SW Florida where the bike was when I bought i 10 years ago. I was in the DC area at the time & flew down to Tampa & stayed with friend there overnight and met the seller - from Port Charlotte -near I-4 the next day to buy the bike. I then rode it to Orlando and then put it on the Auto-Train to Lorton VA. I got off there and rode it to Laurel MD where I used to live. Since then, the bike - and I - have stops in Easley, SC and South FL, before us both ending up here in Sarasota County. LOVE my Triumphs. I rented a Harley once when I was in Maine for week, just to make sure I didn't want one, and bought my R3 about 5 years later. Haven't done much other than ride it (often past Harleys that were broke down on the side of the rode), but I was wondering if I could replace my 5-speed trans with a 6-speed (always seem to looking for that 6th gear when I'm already in 5th), and after checking a bit, it looks unlikely - unless someone here has done it for less the purchase price of their bike. Lemme know if I'm wrong. Cheers, Bill

Welcome. 6th gear prototypes several years ago but too expensive to get a road going kit made.

Yes I hear you. A 6th gear would be nice. I've not heard of anyone that has done this. Still have my ole 06 R3.

Greetings from sunny North Texas. If you really really want that 6th gear you'll have to upgrade to a 2020 or later model Rocket. I found 5 gears was plenty in my 05 Rocket Standard.
