Brown Ale is good, I enjoy Newcastle Brown on occasion.

When I brought my R3 in for the 10,000 mile valve ck the serrvice mgr said triumph pushed the valve ck to 20k, 40k, 60k, etc I said tky add returned 4 months later

Yes indeed. The latest and greatest service manual with service updates still requires a 10,000 mile check. The bike was running fine, but a tight valve clearance very seldom makes a noise. For me with the amount of money we spent to get a Rocket X I am not taking any chance of any screw ups. Yes everything was well with in specs. It cost me a few dollars and a little bit of time but now I am happy knowing first hand that everything is OK. The tune up took about three days of work and we are real happy on how it went. Learned a lot and now we are a little more educated on the bike. The Avon tires look sharp and handle well. The Rocket is my pride and joy next to my dog.

Anyone have any tips on getting the valve cover off? I've got the space cleared out and the 9 bolts removed, but cannot budge the cover. I don't see any pry tabs to work with. Pop the corners with a rubber mallet?

BTW upon close inspection the valve cover gasket is a little crooked and torn on the front of the exhaust side, and there's been minor oil leakage down the block. That's either from the dealer during initial setup or from the factory.

Try tapping with a rubber mallet good luck.

Put a piece of wood against the cover, and give it a tap with a rubber mallet. As for the leak, several captains have reported the same issue. My theory is that the gasket surface on the cover is not true on all bikes as Triumph seems to powder coat the part *after* the gasket surface is milled, and mine had some runoff.
