I tilt mine up first, then remove the hoses and clips underneath, if you mark the two vent hoses ( or at least one of them) and the spot on the tank you will reassemble properly.
after I tilt it up and remove evrything, I loosen the bolt on the back and lift the whole assembly off.
I use a cardboard box with a soft foam pad and cloth to lay the tank upside down in. then you can work on doing anything else to it without scratching or dinging it.
If you need a fuel filter they are easy to replace just have to remove the pump assembly, be careful with the metal rod for fuel leval float. it bends easily ( which is how you fix it )

since i have my T bars and fairngs, I actually slid my tank back now to remove it .. easier then messing with the clocks..
