05 Rocket Wont Start Issues after Storage

Sitting that long with a partial tank of gas, especially this ethanol crap gas we are mandated to use, has me thinking excessive water levels in the tank. Condensation is bad enough with pure gas but the ethanol crap really wicks water out of the air straight into the tank. I would suggest that you completely drain the tank. Pour the old gas into a transparent container. After about 10 min you should see a dark brown layer of water forming in the bottom. The fuel pickup in the tank just happens to be at the bottom as well.
 
just a thought with the gas having ethanol is there a chance that maybe the injectors are gumed up might want to pull them out and get them pressure cleaned tested

I have pulled tank up and checked, connections, fuses etc, have added new fuel and seafoam, gas does smell funky though..
i have sprayed starter fluid in air breather and runs somewhat....obviously doesnt stay running. so does that indicate plugs good ?

PP mentioned oil fouled.. 5 mins to check, please be more specific, as to how ??? thanks.

Is there a straight forward easy way to drain fuel tank,pump, lines ?

PS. Bike IS in neutral, clutch pulled in, also have service manual..
 
The more I think about it the more I reckon you should pull the the injectors off and have them serviced also out curiosity are you getting a good strong spark, if you have even an attempt of it trying to fire with the Ether spray then I would almost garantee it is somewhere in the fuel system and I would start by checking the injectors then fuel line and pump,
Ethanol also has a bad habit if left over time of destroying seals, O rings etc
But try the Ether spray first
 
You can pull remove the fuel line to the throttle bodies. Hit the starter and see if the pump is working. If that has fuel going to the injectors then the injectors are likely clogged. Since it will run while you're spraying ignitor fluid in, your problem is probably the fuel delivery system. Your pump maybe the problem so start there.
 


Be sure that you put fuel line in container to prevent burning down bike.
 


Likely diagnosis and possible cure. My piece of yak-****e R3 suffers similarly. Totally exasperating, useless bike I often regret purchasing. In the process of installing 16 cell lithium battery, along with Carp exhaust, some new electronics for improved shifting and some other misc. BS. Good luck with your "rocket" My ardor for this sled has cooled considerably in recent months. Were I not enhancing it for my son it would have been E-Bayed long since. I dream of...V-Max, V-Rod, Diavel...hell, even dream BIG: SABERTOOTH MOTORCYCLE TURBOCAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That Turbocat is about the baddest, coolest, slickest, meanest, most powerful murder-cycle I've seen in quite a while. Way tighter and leaner than the refrigerators adapted for two wheels at Boss Hoss! That Turbocat hits 600hp and 580+ lbs, torque!!!!!!!!!!!! Beats anything out of even Carpenter's wildest projections! I want one for Christmas.....................puhleeezzzeee!
 
I have trouble with cold starting but you seem to have much bigger problem so this may not work for you, however my mechanic cousin solved it for me. The fuel pressure can drop off over long periods of none running, so he advised turning on the ignition for about 10 sec. before hitting the start button, this gives time for the pump to build up pressure. cranking it over will only make the problem worse by trying to inject fuel & therefore releasing pressure making it harder to build up pressure. It worked for me & costs nothing to try. Good luck anyway
