After going through the miserable task of raising the tank and removing the guts in order to tweak the float mechanism I now know that when the gauge is on empty and going down into the red hash marks I still have about 2 gallons of go juice left.....that is if I happen to look at the gauge when it, me and the planets are in perfect alignment. Still, the only real clue is the odometer, which, both speedo and odometer stopped working on my bike several years ago(although speedo came back to life after I installed the DigitalDAWG keyless ignition system.. Had to add a small diameter GPS speedo/odometer gauge with a GPS gauge which is small and hard to read, but it works and seems very accurate to me.
My '09 Ultra Harley's speedo/odo still works fine after 70,000 miles. I wish Triumph could do the same. My compensation is the fact that my Rockets easily smoke any Harley on the road!
I have the same, Triumph accessory? Question - does yours have a backlight/illuminated? Mine doesn't, so can't see the face at night, before I take it apart to see, it would be good to know if this is design.....

Mine has a back light on both clock and fuel
I noticed that Mine comes on when ignition switch is turned on with the red kill switch turned off..
I am thinking that it is tied to the running lights
