Yamaha versus Hardly

Just checking I watched the right vid. It's a 2001 883cc Sportster up against a 2013 942cc Bolt? Can't see that it proves anything. No one buys these things for outright acceleration.

A sportster and a bolt drag racing is like a Mazda MX-5 against a Pontiac Solstice: The winner only beat a Solstice or an MX-5.

Still, a Sportster is fun to ride and the Bolt would probably be fun too.

We trudge on.

I wouldn't kick Yamaha out of bed for eating crackers.. As a kid in the 60's i remember there were five kids in the neighborhood that all owned Yamahas. On a summer night lying in bed with the window open you could hear that distinct sound of the mufflers blaring away for miles. They are definately a contender........

Your video reminds me of something I've wanted to bring up. It seems (around here anyway) every time you get a group of ****** rockets together they take turns holding the throttle wide open so the engine is bouncing off the rev limiter with no load on it. Seems like a terrible thing to do to an engine. Thoughts ? Would you do it with your rocket ? I know I wouldn't dream of it.

I paid the "price of admission" to the "Harley lifestyle" with my 2012 Harley Road Glide Ultra without the benefit of wasting even more money on a smaller Harley to get onto the "bigger" Harley's. It was a very expensive lesson...if Triumph would have come out with the 2013 red/black combo R3T before June of 2012 I would have passed on even owning a Harley. But I learned my lesson...if you want to spend a lot of money on a motorcycle that has minimal performance with a great paint job and a lot of accessory availability then Harley may be your bike. Having lost over $20,000 roughly on the "privilege" of entering the Harley lifestyle...it just wasn't worth it. It was a "nice" bike just not worth the money I ended up spending on it and ended up being a lesson well learned. Now if I had a ton of money and was collecting a number of bikes to ride on...I could fit a Harley into the mix but other manufacturers bikes would come first (a Roadster and another 1700 Thunderbird, Gold Wing come to mind) and then I'd see what Harley might have to offer but it probably wouldn't be ridden very much.

No way in the world would I do that, would think it could go bad real quick with The Beast. Besides what do we have to prove The Beast doesn't have to talk the talk, she can walk the walk!

I wonder if the Bolt has the 120 degree HD sound. There is something so attractive about the potato sound.

I was just about to buy a Yamaha Royal Star Venture in 05 when I realized I could get the Rocket 3 for the same price. I really wanted all the touring bling the Venture had but that lost out to sheer lust for power and displacement and having a bike that only a few people would ride.

I would have severely regretted getting the Venture knowing I coulda had a Rocket 3.

Last time I went riding, my cousin was reving his HD knowing how quiet my R3 is. So just for laughs I reved the Rocket. I noticed the young woman on the back started squirming:x3:. After a couple of more revs I noticed between 3000-3500 rps she couldn't sit still. When I asked if she was enjoying that, she admitted it was vibrating her piercing at just the right speed and if I didn't stop I was going to get wet:p. That convinced her to come ride to Florida with us lol.
