Ive now run two tanks of 87%and decel pop is terrible. These hot Mad Dogs have amplified it. The acceleration rap is awesome but the droning-on is terrible under a full skid lid. Anyhoot, I shalt not try to save a dime when heading towards possibly wasted engine life. I don't know if loud is where Im at any longer
And I believe Molinoman is quite correct. 89 Octane was the requirement; 89 by the USA mode of measurement.
Hey HeR3tic, have you had your Roc tuned since you put the Mad Dogs on. Running 87 should decrease the decel pop rather than increase it. 87 burns faster (but is more prone to detonation) so you should not have unburt fuel in the exhaust path (source of the decel pop).
Captain Bob, using the (R+M)/2 method, the Roc Std and Classic have always specified 89. Running Premium is a waste and is detrimental to power and exhaust system health. A properly tuned Std or Classic will run best on 89 but should also do well with 87.
