45 degrees where we are in Coolgardie , WA goldfields , hot winds straight off the desert. We'll cross the Nullabour tomorrow , big day .... 1300 klms.

Extreme fire weather didn't get to us in the south east corner of Q.L.D. not yet anyway, cool sea breeze kept temp down to the low 30's and humidity up. There's a fire in the bush on Bribie Island but no one's property is threatened. I see an historic homestead was destroyed near Bendigo thats a shame to see a peice of history gone.As of when I got out of my truck and turned the radio off there were no reported deaths from all the fires in 4 states down south so that can only be a good thing.

Just heard that Monday was the hottest day ever recorded across the whole country with a national average temp of 43C - that's around 110F. Hotter to come at the end of the week we're told.

Malcy working his arse off in Tasmania he reckons .. getting on top of things by the sound of it. Reckons all the effort is worth it when the local residents express their gratitude for the work the interstate volunteers are doing. He's not sure when he'll be getting home. Just thought i'd keep everyone updated .

Thanks Malcy. It is going in the right direction. Hope to return the favour one day. Been too busy making our place safe to put on my orange outfit this fire season. Not a pretty sight on the drive into town today. Alot a people have lost it all on the Tasman Peninsula, we are the lucky ones. R3R got parked in the lounge as an incentive to protect the house. It worked!!

Well today was our last day. Situation on the improve. Fly out in the morning. Worked with a great team of blokes and the locals are great people, very appreciative. Sitting back now enjoying a Capt Morgan and a game of 8 ball feeling somewhat pensive.
Got a call from the good lady who told me of a pending disaster back at home. A blaze totally out of control heading for home. Thanks to the team of CFA back at home and the co ordination of the helicopters Situation resolved, wife calm = me calm.
