I posted this over in the common issues section but thought I'd drop this in the Touring forum too. I hope it's not a problem to do so.

Haven't gotten much help yet so I thought I'd ask in this forum if any of you fellas know what happened, what this is, and how to fix it???? :(

Don't look real important ... tried just pushing it back where it goes ?

What he said. Probaly not drastic have a look up the other fork and see if it has one it may be holding the seal in position but I would expect a circlip as well

We have them on dirt bikes they are the scrapers. Help keep dirt out of the seal. They usually snap in place.
duh of course how dumb do I feel just got home from work and it looks like it does just that only mine are black  must be different forks in the Touring

I really appreciate the responses, fellas. My guess is a dust seal too. Im just not sure if I need a circlip to hold it in or what. I'll figure it out.

It could fall out and look ugly. Ooorrrr, I could be rolling at the speed of light and it could slip out causing a rift in the atmosphere and life as we know it would cease. And that would be bad.:p

Just shove it up and hope it stays put. What's the worst that could happen?

I had a little deja vu when I read that. I think I've heard that before.:D

By the way, I have a buddy that lives in Canberra. We were riding in Wisconsin a couple weeks ago at a bonnevilleamerica.com rally. Just sayin...
