I think I'm sold. Now for a dumb question... I'm not sure what you mean by frame ears. Do you mean where the passenger foot boards mount? That's some pretty stout steel.
Behind the engine underneath the bike, many of the lift set-ups use them for the lever up type lifts.

Got it done. Two scissor jacks, from spare tire kits I saved before junking a couple of old cars from my past. One on each frame ear. Me going side to side doing little increments at a time, keeping the bike close to level all the way up then back down once the shocks were installed. The frame pic helped a lot Marty.

Don't know if it was necessary or not but I used ratchet straps snugging each fork to the crash bar, to keep the steering centered.
