Saw this video the other day, like others have said, too much rear brake. Glad to see he walked away, he got very lucky he didn't go face first into the car in front of him. Nice people to help him out as they did.

Been there! Thankfully I didn't drop it. Too much rear brake followed by panic followed by even more rear brake. In my case until I realized I was an idiot and let it off.

I was almost killed way back in the day for doing the same thing. Too much rear braking. I never hit the rear brake it's cheaper to wear down the front brake and pay attention to what your doing.

The impulse is to nail the rear brake but the front should be 80%. In a safety course, they said hit the front once lightly to engage the disk then quickly grab for all it's worth. Because of the monster motor, the Rocket is the worst offender for locking the rear. ABS makes this problem go away, although except for an expert, you don't stop as quickly. Had ABS only on a Tbird and it really works. This guy did not have to high side. He could easily have laid it down. I had the same experience on the highway. Traffic stopped for an accident. I fishtailed but managed to kick it up straight. Highway patrol was right behind me. I shortly visited the BMW dealer to check out linked ABS.

He must have been younger than me ! I don't bounce that well any more. IMHO I guess the guy didn't have much experience on a bike by the way he hit the rear brake and his lack of forward planning in not moving right if he wasn't makin it. Front brake is what really stops the bike. Good that he walked away from it though. You've got to put the miles in to get the expieriance an it can be a steep learnin curve an sometimes a painful one .Safe ridin guys.

I do it and it works for standard disk brakes. You have to do it fast. You don't release the lever completely before nailing it. It forces you to use graduated force to avoid locking the front. I beleve the instructor was a motorcycle cop. I've been riding for 47 years, have never hit anything or taken a spill like that.
