i have the 412 h.d./11.5" and they are set at # 3 on pre-load. i often ride two up at 400lbs. combined rider/pillion.the 412's handle this load beautifully. i'm about 270 lbs. so # 3 pre-load works really well whether 2 up or not. my only concern is that the bushings are starting to show some fracturing. i'm almost certain that this is due to aggressive throttle use,rather than grommet composition. if you can use better throttle restraint than i do,you should do very well with these shocks.
