For those who don't know, our member Vin was killed last year on a ride through Kinglake and Mick very seriously insured. The accident was caused by an unlicensed rider losing control of his unregistered bike taking out Vin & Mick. Vin died on impact. Now the person who killed Vin & hit Mick had the charge downgraded to careless driving , we believe he got away with a fine , loss of points & that was it apparently. No evidence was given by the police or witnesses , the DPP made a deal because they thought the **** had suffered enough. He had minor injuries and didn't even say sorry or write the family a letter of apology. The family didn't get to say how this has affected them , the perpetrator becomes the victim again .
Lost for words.

How can this be possible

That's terribly sad.... This makes a ***n mockery of this so called justice system...
There is NO JUSTICE in that.
Thanks for sharing Steve

Strange old system when the person that caused the hole event gets away with it.

Yet another tragedy of justice .. how can they keep getting it so wrong !!! Little wonder people have no faith that the outcome will match the crime. Worsens the already horrible grief for family and loved ones left to deal with the Courts ****up.

In my work, I deal a lot with people in the aftermath of this type of traumatic event. Court outcomes like that described above simply amplify the grief families are already feeling - bit like being kicked when your down, and certainly not justice in my opinion

Friends, You'll note it is called the legal system not the justice system.

There is very little justice in our legal and court system. The right amount of money and the right contacts can make all the difference often resulting in complete injustice.

Not any better on this side of the pond...our house was robbed a while back and within a matter of hours all three of the perpetrators had been identified. One was already in jail on a previous charge, and the other two had long rap sheets and were on probation. None have been charged as yet and this happened two months ago.

Know from my time working with little gangster street-kids that the system ain't doing anything to make them accountable. Slaps on the wrist , fits of laughter and they are back into it again. Lime green jumpsuits knitted out of camels pubic hair ( itchy as f#ck) and out on their beloved streets picking up rubbish and weeding roadsides .. scratching every few seconds .. see why i'm not a Youthworker any more .. hahahaha.
