I would be liiking for another dealer, Last may i took mine to the dealer, they adjusted the valves, changed the antifreeze, greased the splines, changed the diferential oil and i don't remember what else, the bill was $535 for the whole thing
They quoted me around $300 just for the valves,
+1 ... That sounds more like the price for the entire 10K service if it should require valve clearance adjustment.
More often than not, a valve adjustment isn't even required and the price is lower even though you are still paying the labor for removing the valve cover.
My valves were inside specified clearances but the fools didn't replace the VC gasket. Make **** sure you or the dealer replaces the gasket rather than just re-torquing it. Mine split wide open one year later and made a big **** mess.
If I had it to do over again, I would have just done the 10k myself (done every service since) and checked the clearances myself. If it had required any adjustment I would have thrown it back together and taken it in for just the valve adjustment since I don't feel like messing with shims 50 miles from a dealer/parts. If I'd have done it that way, I would have saved a bunch of money and known for sure it was put back correctly with new gaskets. But at that time I was gainfully employed with money to burn and little spare time. 20/20 hind sight is a ***** ain't it?
