US 2005 Rocket built in March 2004, Cat or not?

The empty cat box is heavy (12 Lbs) and restrictive (has all the same plumbing as the full cat box). Only down side is you can't jack the bike up with the bypass. Somewhere on this site are pictures of one that was cut open.

Why can't you? Do people use the cat box as a weight bearing area for the jack?
