Hi Everyone,

I posted a few days ago about having to take my Rocket in for the first time. Well I just got the word on the noise and clutch problem. The dealer said they found the thrust washer toasted. According to them everything else looks like new. The clutch pack, basket and whatever else they can see looks good. They are also changing the TPS due to the erratic idle.

The parts are on order and I should have my little girl back by Friday. I'm not sure what the cost is yet, but I'm expecting in the $300 range. Triumph declined the thrust washer replacement good faith warranty but accepted the TPS warranty.

So my cost is labor, thrust washer, gasket and fluids.

The noise was a high squeal when down shifting with the clutch disengaged. I also had a shudder with the clutch. It seemed to change adjustment at random.

I knew I should have done all the work myself.

Just which particular thrust washer was it?? In clutch, or in gearbox, or where????

The washer between the thrust bearing and pressure plate. It's on the center piece that releases the clutch.

If any of you are in the process of clutch repairs and your replacing the thrust bearing, you can get the bearing and washer from Mcmaster Carr faster and less $$$

On a side note. I decided to order the friction and steels, judder washer and spring as well as the clutch shaft in case I needed them (long lead time on everything). Once all parts were received I tor down the clutch and found that nothing was warn. The frictions were all within limits, but the steels had allot of polished spots. About ten places on each side of each steel. I decided to replace all of the parts any way since I have them.
