We poor buggers on the right coast can't do much better than Falcons and Commodores.

Drac, did they tune the bike on the dyno or did you just get a couple pulls to see where you are? If they tuned it what tuning aid did they use? Tune Boy, PCIII or PCV, or tune ecu?

Can you post the dyno graph?

Please correct me but I was under the understanding that the Carp system was designed for the 240 HP kit so it would stand to reason that that lower/mid range would suffer due to lack of back pressureon a stock motor, Dracul will probably get better results if he was to go full House and go all the way to take advantage of the lager flow rate, he will always lack a bit of torque cos you need back pressure to achieve gains in that area this is why I listened to Sam who had talked me out of going to larger bore primary pipes cos while I will be aiming for more HP I don't want to lose Torque. I plan to go with higher comp pistons and longer duration cams and will seek advice when the time come as to whether larger valves and a flow job are necessary
 
He still should have more increase then that. The stocker Carpenter tested came in with a Predator pipe and a Wayne Tripp map in it. If he is just running a standard TORS map and this was just a dyno pull. Then I would suggest he either get a hold of Laryy Lewis and see if he can get his old map as a base tune to start with.
Of course this could change depending on what was actually done to his map.
 
The truth will come out shortly.

For starters, here are honest dyno #s on Larry Lewis' (herdman's) stock engined R3 with triple K&Ns, a Wayne Tripp tune and the predator exhaust.

Green line - this pull shows his bike as it came in to the Carpenter shop descibed above.

Red line - no changes made. Simply removed the Predator and bolted on the Carpenter exhaust

Blue line - Carpenter pipe with fuel added to compensate for the extra flow. still not ideally tuned for the Carpenter system (no adjustments to the timing)
 
I have the pred Hex file if he wants it till he get to do some serious tunning
there is still a dip between 4,250 and 4,750 ish the preds are designed to give best even power it would be interesting to see the torque charts I might add that max HP doesn't make sense cos I have seen charts of preds puting out of the 150 mark similar to Jar's but maintaining better torque not to mention My bike running a leaner tune than it should have put out 142hp (just a run to see what sort of AFR's I was getting) and that was with a Darkside which judging by the 150hp that mitch got (while getting it tuned) with the same set up but a MC means that I lost approx 7-8% and don't forget MY BIKE WAS RUNING Lean they were both done on a Dynojet dyno, so to say that bike put out only 139 HP on the carp dyno has me wondering
Oh and both Mitch and myself knew that our set up would not give the highest flow but we choose to keep the 3 muffler look suprisingly enought just by replacing the restrictive Staintune collecter with a much freer flow set up I designed and had made up my system is flowing much better yet still trys to torque wheelie as it did before but now the response is just so much faster
 
I am sure Bob could have worked out the dip with further changesespecially altering the timing. Its hard saying when your not sure what has been done. You are right though the pipes were made for higher output engines and the Preds were made for stocker set up. I know Bob was busy and had to get the bike done and since Larry was switching to the Carpenter pipe there was no reason to play with a pipe that will not be built again. Larry's had the ceramic coating peeling off, So di Stew Pred. Mine held up so far but the Heat shield brackets welded to the header pipe are not that good. I lost one on each header. Add a rattle sound to the pipe
Massive Torque down low is alright if your pulling a haywagon or 3 bottom plow. But top end is what will win the race even if its on the street. And well we all know these beast have plenty of torque as it is stock.
 
I checked out the welds when the headers came and they appeared just fine but will keep my eye on them the header fitted perfectly, maybe your's might have a fault (were they one of his early ones) as for the ceramic coating he is not the one who did it he merely had someone do it so you can't blame him there, the only issue I have seen is the heat shield bolts working loose but I have not had an issue after retightening while letting everything settle in over a couple of hundred Klm
