Time to "Stir the Pot" Darth Vader is Calling.

stoners????? i was reading all the post and i think i read the that someone put a200 tire on a touring model. my question is will the 200 fit with out any prolbems .

When i was 19 or 20 i would have tried anything. i could make my 59 bsa 650 do about anything but once in a while it would stomp me.
Now that 68 i would ask my self if triumph is so cheap that it can't put a headlamp relay on why wouldn't they use a car tire if they could save a $100. i assume there must be a liability problem?
if one had very good riding skills he could probably overcome any problem. with my skills i ask myself what my bike worth and whats my ass worth and then i dig in my wallet and buy the metz.

asked my dealer a couple years ago if they would mount one .
they said sure we mount them on gold wings all the time .
so i guess its just the dealer and how well you know them
come on guys a tire is a tire is a tire
its a personal choice
run what ya want
dealers are dealers and some are way better then others
some are there to help people and some are there to make money
those that help people tend to make more money in the long run
but this is just my opinion and my experience run what ya like and if you have a great dealer deal with them
if ya don't then do what ya can

The truth to me is that a car tire feels safer and more robust than the metz on a Rocket. The lower pressure required allows the tire to absorb gravel and debris more easily, having hit gravel and sliding out on the metz (saved it by the way by accelerating then braking rapidly) I can tell you it's no fun. If you want to go mad cornering don't fit one, but if you like to Rocket from the lights without ripping your tire to bit's then it's worth considering. I had a rear metz go flat at high speed, it felt very vague and hard to keep straight, I hope the car tire has more substance under the same situation. Has anybody had a car tire go flat on their Rocket? If so what happened?. Hey it's a ROCKET straight line launching is what it's about. It's also nice that it has a good connection with the ground in greasy down hill conditions. Tracking is a car tire trait but can be gotten used to. It's good to spit out road and not tire with fast take off's. I like it for what I do.

Well put mate. Makes a refreshing change from being told that anyone not using a car tyre is too scared or unimaginative to want to do something that to the vast majority of riders just seems unnatural. People should do whatever they want; just don't expect everyone to agree with them or to always be able to hide the fact they think it's just plane not right.

Gothlander does have a habit of ' leaving abruptly ' :D .. i have no doubt at all his choice of tyre is right for him. As has been said run what you wish .. but if Owners ask for opinions or experience there will always be the for's and againsts when it comes to this subject.

I just cant see the attraction with riding around with your tires half flat just so u can go round corners :D
and having to piss around with airpressures just to make it work .

Perhaps that was Rossis problem at Ducatti he had too mutch air in his tires

Tell us what you really think Mitch.

Going to have to retire this excedra max didn't want to play properly today 10'000km was pretty good I think .not quite down to the wear marks but close enough .200km,s of slipping and sliding today.went on a poker run ,rained the whole time plus what an over kill ,at least 20 different cops on bikes spread out from browns plains to raphdowny and another half ad dozen cars full of cops .i had had enough and bailed after 200k,s

Hells always attract that sort of attention .. 10,000 klms is what i always get out of a rear ME880 , usually down to canvas when i change'em but i get my 10,000 out of'em every time. Glad you survived the slippin, slidin and the cops a'stoppin :D
