Taking Zeus to the Vet in the AM

Wow, thanks for all the well wishes. Took him in today and the surgeon did her evaluation. It is malignant but where it roots to his mouth is at a good spot to get it all off and not affect his jaw bone. They are confident that they will get it all off. They will perform the surgery Friday AM. He does have Wobblers syndrome though. Its a neurological/spinal disorder that mainly affects Danes and Dobermans. Got him on Tramadol's for the pain with that issue. Wonder if it would work for me?? Basically were just trying to make him comfortable as he winds down. Being close to 10 years old, Zeus is at the high end of the scale, with many Danes only surviving for 6-9 years. Another Dane, Kaleb, lived to be 11.5 years before we had to put him down. That gets harder to do each time.

That's good news.
Its nice to see so many people on this forum who understand the closeness and connections we have with our 4-legged family members.

I feel your pain, good luck. About a month ago we had to put our Gizmo down due to pancreas and liver issues. He LOVED the bikes, I would put him in my saddlebag and tour him around the neighborhood, one of his favorite things to do, this may sound sappy, but we got him cremated, I took some of his ashes in a steel vile, and put it in my bike so he never misses a ride again, besides, maybe he will keep the "gremlins" off the bike that the "bell" is supposed to do, lol.
Not sappy at all
I lost my lab a few years ago and she was cremated.
she was an amazing dog. Didn't like bikes but loved to ride my jet ski with me and would sit on it in the garage ,in the truck and even at the beach and docks just to make sure she didn't miss a ride.
