I'm trying to make my own lowers and got the template, etc... that's available on here. However, my memphis shades kit didn't fit the outer tube on the roadster. Anyone with a setup of calibers care to take a quick measurement and tell me the size? They are listed as 43mm but I don't know if that's the inner or outer tube.

Thanks!

43mm is definitely the inner tube. If I remember right, someone posted that the outers are 61mm. If you find the right Memphis Shades kit, please post the part number up here.

I've been thinking about this as well and fortunately I think I found the right part numbers. Assuming that the outer tubes are 61mm, the proper clamp from Memphis Shades is S1145 which is a 60mm (see note below). The entire lowers mounting kit is part number 2321-0038.

The application chart on the Memphis Shades site says that the 2321-0038 will fit the following:

  • Suzuki VL800 series including the C50T
  • Kawasaki VN900 Vulcan Classic
  • Honda VTX1800 with the Covered Forks
NOTE: The chart indicates that the VTX1800 Covered Forks are 63mm so the assumption is that they will fit our 61mm forks.

I'll try to measure mine using some tools I have but won't be near accurate enough compared to calibers... I'm an AutoCAD / Designer guy so hopefully I'll get the spacing on the memphis shades brackets and draw up an actual PDF pattern that's to scale for anyone to have as well.

Is this what you are looking for? 59mm.......

my memphis shades clamps were a touch big I just made a shim out of thin about (1.5 mm) nylon cutting board that added enough so they are nice and tight
