Single Tors Exhaust Mod

Once you have decided on the look you want you just have to strike that balance between noise and avoiding unwanted attention/being socially obnoxious. That small pipe would be pretty close to being more trouble than it's worth I reckon.

I can only share my experience but I don't know if it actually answers your question Wrecka.

Last week I chopped my TORS 3 into 2 (shotgun on one side only) chopped them in half as it was too long for the look I wanted "Naked Mad Max". Although Mel Gibson may be a bit old now.

I also cut and re-welded the baffles to suit. I made the mistake of not bolting the baffles in as I felt they were pretty tight to slide in. Took a short ride around the block to test performance and to see if the baffles rattled. Frikin lost one!!!! The performance went to sh** like no power at all on hard acceleration, I mean NUTHIN, almost unrideable unless you rode it like a little old granny. The deceleration pooping was extreme and backfiring too, a definite no no as you could easily bend a conrod with an explosion of unburnt fuels. This was so bad, I immediately booked it in for a Dyno Tune.

Anyway, so I made another replacement baffle and the bike instantly ran like a dream, absolutely perfect.

Upon further research it appears all motorbikes and in particular our Rockets are EXTREMELY reliant on precise and exact back pressure not only for optimum performance but also just to run at all.

I'm no expert but I hope this sheds some light on how delicate the exhaust flow is to achieve the perfect tune.

Wrecka just a thought (I take it you already have TORS) maybe give MEERKAT up at Gympie a call and see what he reckons about a single muffler set-up. John already makes exhausts/cat deletes for Rockets. He also does beautiful custom work but stocks some really cool mufflers. You could tell him how noisy you wanted it (he'd knows all about back pressure and performance ) you could then sell your TORS and not be out of pocket .. and have yourself a sweet one-off .. the muffler could be used when you finally give in and replace your headers .. the old need for speed thing.

All awesome suggestions and appreciated , although as I said I want to retain the one tor and I'd also like to do as much if not all the work mys of at home due to not having the spare time or money to shuffle the bike to exhaust shops :)

Thanks for posting the pick of my old pipe @CanberraR3 I was about to go looking for it. @dave64 @TOMCAT quite a few have claimed they can stop that super bike like pop at 2000rpm but after hours on the dyno have had to admit defeat. I did stop it with a piece of 2inch tail pipe about 8 inches long welded to the outlet. That's why it has the reverse cone on the end. Inside the cone is about 4inches of 2inch tail pipe. This made a big improvement but to have it long enough to stop it would have looked stupid.

Going to have to baffle the ex-team-ponters-racing Reband system on my bike .. f#ckin seriously loud and annoying .
