Should my ignition lights come on?

Don't fret too much. We tend to be sorta smartassed ourselves here from time to time. If it turns out you have an '09 classic (which it looks like) you have one of the better models (IMHO) of Rocket!! I am looking for just such an animal myself. When you get the missing bits fitted keep this post alive and I'm sure that the folks here will be happy to help.
Too right if we can we are always willing to help just have to be clear and be prepared to answer a few ?? To help identify possible faults

once you get the parts you will be in good hands with hanso. the rest of us will try to help also.
when you hear it crank it will be awesome.

When it was made or when it was registered? How do you refer to YOUR bike?
The bike was OBVIOUSLY made BEFORE 2010 as it was only registered early January, any moron can see that. The fact that it was REGISTERED in 2010 means that most sensible people would call it a 2010 bike. Not being anally retentive, I don't put in my posts " my 2010 REGISTERED bike which was actually built in 2009" I would lean towards "2010 bike"……surely most people would.
At no point did I say I knew everything, I'm asking for help and it seems people just want to slag me off….nice welcome that is….thanks!

Simon

yes it DOES state Classic on the side panel, that's why I called it a classic.

 Ohhhh I can see the vultures circling on this one....this is better than a night at the movies.o_O

Nah, nothing to see here. ;)

I guess the point is that there have been a few key changes that make knowing the year of manufacture important. This goes even to things like the location and size of sump plugs as well as electronics. Also incorrect references to model names, the most common being referring to a Standard as a Classic or a Roadster, but also the Tourer v Touring, don't help either when people are trying to help. I think the 1st 2010 Roadsters were actually sold in 2009 and clearly some 2009 and 2008 bikes were sold in 2010.

just thinking about your bike. if it had an alarm system and they removed it then you would need an alarm system or the harness link connector.
seen in the paper manual on page 18.25 #13 (alarm control unit or harness link connector)
or in the site below on page 18.23 #13 (alarm control unit or harness link connector)

i had a rat chewed my connector wires and then it would not work the engine management relay.
i repaired wires on mine, don't know if the connector availiable from triumph.
might loop two wires for temporary trial. like in the diagram.

If you have a 2009 Classic then you have the best Rocket ever made. (DUCK!!! INCOMING!!!) The reason I say that is because I like the Classic (which I own) and by 2008 they had all the early problems sorted, so when you get your bike sorted you will be set.

As you have been turning the ignition on with important bits missing, you will have thrown a bunch on engine error codes. These can easily be removed with TuneECU, and that software will also let you diagnose (and often correct) just about any other ECU related issues. However, you will need to get some coils in and functioning before going any further.
