So there is this awesome company called Tuneboy. They sprinkle the magic unicorn fart dust on your R3 and make it perform so much better if used properly.

Wayne has chosen a proprietary key generation scheme required to utilize the system as more than a datalogger (OT-2).

So far so good.

The problem comes in with:

Only able to be contacted by email, a generic sales@ email.
There is little to no support available on the tuneboy site.
The manual for Tuneedit seems to have gone missing in the most recent site update.
The forums he was going to put up never materialized, so no central place to go for support.
They're in australia so calling is a nightmare because of time zones if you could find a phone number.

THEY DONT ANSWER THEIR EMAILS FOR ****.
The one time Emma did answer, she said "I cannot find your purchase in my database" I sent my proof of purchase with invoice number, and the entire paypal transaction from the initial purchase and got NO RESPONSE.

Dealing with Tuneboy is like arguing with a brick. Thankfully the device can still be used as an OT-2 at least paired with an LC-2 for a good datalogger, unfortunately it came at a $350 markup over just buying it from Innovative.

Tuneboy has officially hit my "**** that company" list forever, there is no excuse good enough. My initial instinct to stay away was overcome by the extra features: 3 Maps, Launch Control, Traction Control, Autotune, and was unfortunately proven right.

Please buy a Dobeck, a PC-V, an LM-2, and OT-2+LC-2.... anything before giving these crooks any more money!

END RANT

This is what you do dealing with them:

I bought my tuneboy key and cable back in 2007 never had a problem with them sorry to hear about the run around you are getting
Now when tuneboy is working it out performs anything else on the market if you can find someone who knows how to use it.:D

Tune ECU seems to have worked well as an end-around for most here with non-exotic set ups.

Sorry to learn of your trevail, Claviger.

Yeah, I use TuneECU currently, my efforts will be put the test tomorrow on the dyno, wish I would have just stuck with it. As it turns out, to get the live tuning and extra features of tuneboy, you have to no only get a magical fairy key for tuneedit, but then send your tune in to have it converted and get it back to load in the bike.

Somehow I dont think that will ever manifest in a working product.

Really the triple map and launch control are what I want most and tuneecu cant do that :/

The last contact from TuneBoy that I had was when I got my key, about 8 or 9 years ago. I tried emailing them a number of times for support and never received a response. I still have my TuneBoy cable, and my key, but now use TuneEdit and can not, unfortunately, recommend TuneBoy. If they would respond to customers who have paid a lot of money for their product, when they could have got one that is essentially free, then I would be happy to recommend their product.

While things may have changed, I got plenty of help from Wayne when he was developing tunes for the R3. TuneECU is much the same as the old Tuneboy but the new TB is tune on the fly. That's an advance. I believe Carpenter uses it. Possibly Warp9.9? How about asking Warp or IMFASTTOO?

YES Carpenter uses Tuneboy so call the shop 856 753 1555

i bought the newer TB back in 2011 and got a little support. i wasnt looking for guidance on bike tuning just help getting the software to work/connect to ECU.
after a while of no success i bought the original tuneboy cable 2nd hand and had slightly less 'unsuccess' with that simpler comms link. so 4 years of tuning & diagnostic hardship ensued.

then last summer with the help of warp9.9, Pedro and Bob Carpenter i got it working fine. there were a number of issues such as windows not allowing driver install due to lack of digital signature, wrong port number being pointed to, and some tuneboy specific stuff. you need tuneboy for the fancy stuff so as long as we have men like pedro and warp we'll get by.
