Just been out to measure mine.Ive dropped the front 13mm and its an 05 model as measured from the top of the yoke to the top off the fork.I raised the front forks by taking the wheel and mudguard off then undoing the bolts that hiold the forks in place. You can apparently just undo the pinch bolts on the yokes and slide them up with everything in place.Thats how sully did his.Steers a lot better not so much counter steer.I also changed the fork springs to wilbers as well so aint to sure whether it was the springs or lowering it that improved it.I cant lower the forks anymore than this else i will run out of the larger diametre bit where they fix in the yokes.

about how much can I lower it before the kickstand angle becomes a problem??

To be safe, I'd say 1/2".

I'm sure you can go more but it becomes iffy.

Question for Step 1. What involved in sliding your forks up.

Thanks

I followed others & posted some pics here: http://www.r3owners.com/viewtopic.php?t ... t=lowering

Big improvement at 3/8" and I'll probably go the rest of the way soon.

The biggest drawback to lowering the R3 is that it sits almost vertical on the kickstand.

You'll want to keep the bars turned to the left when possible. In fact mine tipped over once with the bars turned to the right!!

I may have a local fabricator cut/bend my stand this winter...
