Seat latch issue

You can reach and release it with a long thin straight screw driver

i did notice that the tab that holds the end of cable over time bend a little which gave the cable too much slack and made it difficult, if you do get it off in one piece (no A bombs please) try bending tab to reduce cable slack

On my bike the cable wouldn't stay put in the cable holder tap.... right at the seat latch.... not the lock. Started acting funny when I would unlock the seat. I put a zip tie on it to hold it in place and it all works good now. Another Triumph frick up. I still like my bike though.

Decosse .... if I remember correctly has a key fob that unlocks his electric seat latch.

I've had problems with these on every bike I've own that had them. I'm a bit happier with the bolts on the Touring -- only a bit -- because lazy mechanics will cross thread them - grrrrrr.

I went into the shed to look at the set up as I thought that Triumph may have thought that the tank stay rod might also double as an emergency seat lock opener - but I dont think they thought of this.....
When I looked I noticed my cable had poped of again.... Grrrr So I drilled two 1.5mm holes through the bracket and tied it down with a piece of wire. - Not going anywhere now.
But maybe you could try the tank stay rod just to see..... Ya never know.

Yeah I relocate mine every time I have the seat off, same as yours. need to do the same fix!

I did find it easier if one bends a arc in the blade like below

or you can also hit the latch like below to actuate the release. Either way push down on the seat like with the key to take the load off the latch mechanism it will release much easier.

De -activate it and put a cable tie on the back latch so you have just a manual pull...had the same problem and this is what i done

Excellent pictures. The straight, slim, long flat driver under the seat did it for me once you can tell from the pictures how the latch looks from the side and how it works. I'm sure this post will live to serve another day.

Pics of the latch assembly - loose and the one fitted to my R3, I noticed when I first looked at mine the cable was not sitting in the right position as it had poped out. I hope this helps.

I had the problem shown in the previous post where the cable had come out of its holder. I managed to get my fingers under the seat and snagged the cable and pulled. The seat released.
