Rockets Across America VI

JD, I'm really bummed to hear that you've had so much trouble with your R3T. As with all things mechnical, there are a certain small percentage that will have ghosts and demons in them and it certainly sounds like your unit was one of them. Unfortunately and rightly so, it's left a bad taste in your mouth for Triumph. It doesn't sound like your dealer was much help either.

If, and it's a big IF, I were to buy an H-D, the Road Glide Ultra would be the model that I would pick. The fixed fairing is WAY better suited to touring than the handlebar mounted batwing. I hope you and Amanda have many, many trouble-free miles on it. And I hope that you would be back to MV at any of the next RAA events held there.

With that said, the H-D models have their own demons and you should be aware of them. The biggest that I have heard of are the stator problems so many have had. My oldest brother, Guy, had his brand new stator go out at MV. He will be installing his 3rd shortly. The other guys from TX that were part of my group have also had stator problems. Dean is on his 3rd already and Larry is on his 2nd. Just don't be surprised if it goes out on you, too.

That's a **** shame. When Harley first went to an alternator in 1970, they had stator problems. Now 40 f__ing years later they still have it ?
