Roadster rear shocks upgrade?

I believe three models do fit all R3 but the T .sorry cannot remember the numbers I have the least expensive next model has outside cartridge (more money) and third more damping and preload settings from remote cartridge (even more money)

There are a few available that will fit but if it helps I have the type 642 Nightline

Thanks guys..... I will see if I can get something up with the 642 on their website. When all is done however we're talking $1200.00 right??

right.... but do not forget you get front spring and rear shocks

The main thing I'm after is not be shot up in the air off of the seat after hitting a pot hole I didn't see coming or where the highways join together like you mentioned. My friend who has road my bike says that it has a "stiff" ride to it. He rides a Suzuki Boulevard and he says the bike is a bit easier on the back hind side.

I really like the 642 NightLines.

a mate of mine has a c109 boulevard and after riding mine and me riding his, he said it physically hurt his neck, back and arse. riding his i understood.

But now that I've fitted the 642 nightlines, he keeps begging to ride mine andy simply tell him to get ****ed.

Mate if you can do it, don't think about it,they are better than what anyone can tell you

When I get the cash I will get them also.

THanks for all this info guys, seems we all agree Triumph 's original shocks are too hard. No one's said anything about Fournales air shocks yet so I'm still not sure what to get. Sounds like the Wilbers are top spec but dear, but the Fournales are too! Air shocks allow you to change the "spring " rate over a larger range than a real spring, as well as the damping so there's more adjustability I guess for solo or two up riding and as I do both , that might be worth having .
Mountain bikers here certainly go for air shocks for extreme downhill control and having seen some of their antics over jumps I'm pretty impressed! I have had both wheels off the ground on the Rocket over switchbacks.......when the Buell in front stuck to the road!

Now there's snow not far away and the roads are icy there's no rush, so I'll keep looking.

Well I've ordered the Hagon Nitros. Had a chat with them about spring rates, and they'll put springs on to suit my weight plus my wife, and they should be here any day now. Very helpful and knowledgeable guys.
I found out the Fournales shocks can't be adjusted (softened)while there is weight on them, they say "put bike on centre stand" while adjusting! Not on a Rocket! and there's no damping adjustment, they're pre-set at the factory. So at half the price of the Fournales (£369) the Hagons look the best deal by far. Lots of spring preload adjustment and 10 damping settings to try out. And you don't need to buy a fancy pump.

Now I just need dry roads and no snow....

Well the snow went and the sun was out so I've put the nitros to the test at last.
Brilliant! I've done about 100 miles on them over the humpiest bumpiest roads I can find and only been kicked in the back*ide a couple of times. I set the damping to the least of the 12 clicks (softest) and the bike is starting to really follow the road at last instead of taking off at humps. I think the spring rate is still too hard so will be testing the amount of rear wheel movement next ( easy just fix a cable tie on the piston rod)

if I'm not using all the available movement then it's softer springs - but so far a huge improvement.
And they took 10 minutes to fit - perfectly

You probably need to INCREASE the preload if you're getting ejected from the seat. If the setting is too soft the static sag takes up the shock travel available. By increasing the preload you get less sag and more useable shock travel. Have a friend help you measure the sag with a yard stick. Adjust until it's about 10 to 15mm and see if you get better handling AND comfort.;)

Hi Ponters,

I tried to order the 642 but was told they would not fit the Roadster because of the dresser bars. Do you have dresser bars installed on your bike?
