If I fill up when my gauge tells me I have say 25 miles left, I can fit in about 6 or 7 litres. This equates to about 55 miles. The light comes on at about 150 miles and that seems to me about right (210 miles to the tank). Also the other day - because I knew I had more than the 15 miles left that it was showing me, I pressed on, when suddenly (at 15 miles) it went to zero miles remaining.
Are they all like this, as I am having to revert to the trip meter and keeping an eye on miles covered.
Thanks
Mike

I had a visible scale meter activated for a while, Mike. It was depressing and somehow a bother watching segments disappear so fast. It's better imo to use the Odometer and as Ian says - when the light comes on - look for a pump. Mine seems to come on around the 200km mark.

Oh I dunno - I'm quite impressed with the mpg out of the box of this Roadster. Even before it was run in it was returning 42mpg (imperial). Once it's got about 3000 miles on it I reckon I'll get 46mpg out of it.
The reason I asked the question was that one of the guys who was first to get a Roadster up here (north east England) - said the miles-to-go on his was amazingly accurate.
If others are the same as mine, I ain't going to have much luck persuading the dealer to alter it under warranty, so maybe have to get the level thingy out and rebend it. It's annoying staring at the orange light 30 miles before you have to

I'm getting about 43mpg(Imp) but I've seen it drop to below 37. Running in was about 43 too. It's sensitive to riding style in the 3000-4000 rpm range ime. it's all to do with the F-L fuel table switching.

the other day after running in 2 new tyres (i.e. obeying the speed limits, no sharp acceleration) it took 16 litres to fill the tank, and i'd covered 150 miles since the last fill up. roadster gauge told me i'd 30 miles left.
if the tank is 24 litres and 16 ltrs got me 150 miles then a whole tank should get me 225 miles. and the gauge is saying 30 left when the calculator says 75.
i just fill up shortly after light comes on, as there is a steep difference between my town mpg and open road so odometer isnt much use for top-up timing

My R3 fuel light comes on when I've used 16L .( 8 to go) I just reset the trip to give me a fuel watch.Mixed riding ( cruise + some full power on the Carpenter engined bike) averages about 14Kms/L.. pretty similar to what I used to get before the mods.. mebbe slightly thirstier, but hardly noticable.

Mine does the same, Mike. My miles left to empty is even pretty close given my average MPG (36 or so) and how much should be left to keep the pump covered. I think it's kinda funny how overboard Triumph went with the whole fuel thing on the Roadster, what with a warning light, a disappearing bar gauge, and a miles left to empty read out. I would trade the bar gauge for a coolant temp gauge.

well it came quicker than I thought. 46.7mpg (imperial) today on a 341 mile run. Mixture of mainly motorway at 70-80mph plus some country roads at 50-60 plus an hour through Edinburgh. I think 50mpg should be achievable, which is very good from such a big bike.

I have an R3T. the miles to empty goes all the way to zero one by one but I still have a minimum of four litres left when I fill. There could be a reason Triumph does it this way. The fuel pump is cooled by the fuel surrounding it. Perhaps they want to make sure the pump is immersed at all times.
