anyone seen anything to deflect the heat from the right leg? it's not bad most of the time, but on the really hot days, i'm about to start using duct tape on the inside of my leg.

I got a hole in my rainpants too, its from one of the bolts that hold the covers me think :(

hot legs

Going on a 750 klm ride today to run the scooter in and will see how the heat affects me. won't do much more than keep me warm in the morning. and hopefully nothing more in the arvo. :)

Ditto on the boots thing. I wear tall Red Wings 99.9% of the time, high top hiking boots the rest of the time. I even prefer pull ons over lace ups so getting the laces caught isn't an issue.
Where I get the bothersome heat is on the inside of my right thigh. It doesn't have to be that hot out for it to be an issue, and trailing throttle conditions, i.e. going down a mountain pass, or slow traffic are the worst. It really isn't like the engine heat per se like you might feel at a stop light, this is a burning of the leg that can't be ignored. Originally my early Rocket had a bogus tune in it and installing the correct one made a big difference in the frequency this issue raised its head, but it still does happen.
I find it interesting (and encouraging) that many people report no issues at all with the heat, 'cause I'm not talking discomfort, I'm talking pain, whether wearing jeans or my leathers. I know it's bad enough on my bike it is a big reason I keep my Victory for my bagger - I simply don't want to deal with the burning leg thing when I'm supposed to be enjoying myself on tour.
Some of the things that are supposed to help with the heat are the correct tune, Rivco exhaust flange covers, freer flowing exhaust, header wrap, or maybe ceramic coating. I wonder if using a Tune Boy or PC111 to richen things up would also help?

FLT40, were you able to put your header heat shields back on after putting the header wrap on? My quick perusal of the situation indicated that may be a problem.

yes i was, a bit of a struggle but i got them back on. only minor problem was the rivco covers need a lil massaging to fit back nicely but i feel it was worth it

G-man - i'm anxious to see the pics. i've come up with some ideas. i also find when the fan kicks on it increases the heat quite a lot also, so i'm trying to incorporate that into the design

I found this a big problem last Friday in Boston traffic. It was so bad that at long lights I put the bike on the stand and got off and stood next to it.

I spoke to my dealer and he told me one customer put on exhaust tape and put the Rivco covers over it. I might try that.

heat

just one more reason to get your air intake out in cooler air--period. and exhaust wrap w/ rivco cover sound good. however-if you get rid of exhaust "faster"--bettter scaveging, etc. --heat goes w/ it.---sounds like a 3 cool air in--3 "cooler " air out to me. 3 in/3out!---jlm
